Brooding Monochrome Man
Description
Victor Tkachenko's "Brooding Monochrome Man" emerges from a swirling, storm-like background as if materialising from thought itself. The figure is neither fully present nor absent — caught somewhere between consciousness and shadow, rendered in deep charcoals, cold whites and turbulent greys.
This is portraiture stripped of comfort. No warmth, no resolution. Just a gaze that holds its ground.
For walls that can take it.

About the artist
Victor Tkachenko
Victor Tkachenko is a Ukrainian-born artist now based in Toronto, creating emotionally charged figurative works that blur the line between realism and abstraction. Known for his haunting, dreamlike imagery, he works primarily with acrylic on board — building up richly textured surfaces through bold, deliberate brushwork, often enhanced with ink, varnish, or plaster.
His style draws on symbolism and expressionism, with elongated forms and layered tones that evoke a deep sense of mystery and melancholy. Figures emerge from shadow, never fully revealed, inviting the viewer into a contemplative space between recognition and the unknown.
