About the artist

Mara Voss

Mara Voss is a German artist based in Berlin, known for her hyperrealistic paintings of crumpled and folded paper. Working primarily in oil, she elevates the most ordinary of materials — a scrap of paper, a discarded sheet — into objects of profound sculptural beauty.

Trained at the Universität der Künste Berlin, Voss became captivated by the idea that paper, the most temporary of surfaces, could hold permanence. Her works explore tension, fragility, and form — each piece a meditation on what is kept and what is let go.

Her series are defined by a single material rendered across an evolving palette, making each work both autonomous and part of a greater whole.
